About the Artist
A native of High Point, N.C., Austin is a self-described admirer of the “magic of light and texture and the compositional dance of positive and negative spaces in nature.” A decade after retiring from a textiles career and moving to Wilmington, she has created an artistic “gathering of coastal treasures” that represent her own journey east, where a single day can offer endless inspiration.

Of her show, Austin said, “My favorite weather on the East Coast is blustery: a day when the wind is blowing strongly enough that you catch your breath and hold on to the feel of the moment. A blustery day opens your spirit to ocean waves, arching palms and flowing rivers as you take in the glorious light and colors of our beautiful East Coast.”
