About the Artist
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mark Gansor p ursued his Bachelors of Music from Duquesne University and Masters of Music from Eastern Carolina in classical music. Early in his career, Mark suppor ted himself as a free-lance piano accompanist and a church organist. He beg an to experiment with painting 25 years ago and later began working as a mu ralist in fine homes and public buildings. Although he still finds great pa ssion for music, he now limits his musical pursuits to playing as a church organist at Saint Andrews Covenant Presbyterian Church.
After moving to Wilm ington five years ago, Mark developed a passion for acrylic painting on can vas. Mark most often thickly applies acrylic paint with knives and fingers rather than using paintbrushes. Much of his work features nature, historic structures, and the downtown area. Mark Says, “I believe that finally my personal style is beginning to develop. My goal is to become solely an artist, an interpreter of the beauty around me.”
