Good bones: Burgwin-Wright House built into remnants of Wilmington's first jail

In the history of any town, there are going to be a flurry of firsts at the outset. The first time settlers step foot on the land. The first home built to shelter its new residents. The first leaders installed to govern these people. The first place of worship established to commune with their beliefs.

But no first is quite as unique as Wilmington’s first jail, then spelled the English way – gaol.
