To ring in the start of 2022, Burgwin-Wright House and Gardens will host “Lucid Dreaming,” a new art exhibition featuring the work of local artist Chris Fowler whose series of paintings will explore the path to the unconscious.

Fowler’s work will be featured in the museum’s art gallery beginning January 28 through February 19. An opening reception is set for 6-9 p.m. Friday, January 28 during the Wilmington Arts Council’s Fourth Friday Gallery Nights in downtown Wilmington.

Admission is Free; masks are required.

The exhibition is part of Burgwin-Wright’s mission to showcase local artists and their work in its art gallery space on the ground floor of the Colonial museum house. The art gallery space is free and open for the public to explore from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. A percentage of proceeds from the sale of the artwork showcased benefits the ongoing preservation of the 1770 Burgwin-Wright House and its operation as a museum.

From the Artist

Of his exhibition, Fowler said, “Dreams have always captivated the human mind and imagination. They are frequently an unconscious representation of our interior fears, anxieties, desires, hopes, and imaginations. They're highly personal and hold the most meaning for the person who is having them. When this delicate state is placed in unexpected visual contexts, its ephemeral and murky character is highlighted, inviting viewers to sift through the literal and figurative layers in search of meaning” For more information about Fowler and his work, visit his website at cfowlart.com.
