Tavern Night in the Old City Jail and Gardens
Thursday, March 28, 2019, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT
Category: Events

Join us for live music, food, and drinks in the Old City Jail & Gardens.

Quench your thirst with beer from Front Street Brewery and wine from Silver Coast Winery while listening to live entertainment from The Beehive Blondes in our beautiful gardens. A&M’s Red Food Truck will also be on site to provide mouthwatering tacos and sliders to replenish you throughout the evening

Tickets are $25 at the door and include two beverage ticket (one for each vendor), and access to the live entertainment. All proceeds from this event benefit the Burgwin-Wright House educational programs, restoration projects, and hurricane Florence rehabilitation.

Entrance fee will be waived for those who attend Dr. Robert Hart's talk, "The Southern Porch: A Cultural and Environmental History," that evening at the Bellamy Mansion. Hart will focus on the porch and its central place in southern culture and history. He will also examine the porch through the lens of environmental history as a space neither distinctly indoors or outdoors. For more information please visit www.bellamymansion.org

We are excited to announce that in conjunction with craft beer week, Front Street Brewery will be serving their Fig Sour, made with figs from Burgwin-Wright House trees. "Figgie Smalls" is a gorgeous golden sour ale that started life as Front Street’s Porch Swing Orange Lager, before being aged in an oak barrel for 6 months with a load of fresh figs from  our trees. Front Street’s wild yeast culture has turned it into an ultra-refreshing, lightly tart beer with a pleasant hint of oak and fruit, not unlike a sparkling wine.

And when you fall in love with the wine from Silver Coast Winery, visit their Southport location that offers wine and craft beer tastings, or take a road trip to Brunswick County's first winery, located just inland of Ocean Isle Beach.  The winery offers tours and tastings of their award-winning, European style wines every day. The winery is located midway between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach just minutes from Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. Explore the art gallery where local art adorns the walls and shop in the unique gift shop for an array of wine related items and gifts. The Barrel Room, with its enchanting waterfall, offers a unique setting and is perfect for special events, meetings and weddings.

Lastly, if you plan on attending Billy Ray Morris’s FREE talk on April 2 at 6:30pm at the Cape Fear Museum, let us know at the door. Morris is a nautical archaeologist who will discuss how public preservation efforts of underwater wrecks can coincide with local dive communities to create a shared sense of stewardship and responsibility. Morris pioneered the concept of Heritage Dive Sites in 2015 off the Carolina Beach coast with the wreck of the Condor. Billy Ray Morris is the retired director of Wilmington’s NC Underwater Archaeology office and owner of South Eastern Archaeological Services, Inc.
